I know, I can hardly believe it myself.
There was a weird accident in the editing bay, and before we knew what was happening, we had opened up a portal to another earth, very much like ours, but with one minor difference - Aquaman is the world's most popular hero there!
I know, I know, it sounds insane, but to prove it we arranged an exchange - we couldn't send people or things through the portal, only editing bay data - so we traded the episode of Batman: The Brave and the Bold that we were working on for an episode of their hit show Aquaman: The Awesome and the Outrageous. It's a show where Aquaman teams up with a new hero every week! Here he is with Green Arrow-
Unfortunately, we lost their teaser and the main titles, so we just dropped our own in, but after the title card, you're in for a treat - an episode of the Aquaman team-up show from another world. I'm very excited, so tune in and check it out! We'll be airing it this Friday!

I loved this episode from start to finish. I hope Batman and Enemy Ace meet again in World War II.
ReplyDeleteI enjoyed the roadmap with a whole bunch of locales in the DC Universe. How'd all those places get picked specifically?
I also the debut of new villains to animation; Bug-Eyed Bandit, Planet Master, Tigress, Artemis, and Fisherman.
It was so nostalgic seeing Imp and Storm along with the submarine from the 1966 Batman movie!!

Here's how I picked which cities would be in the show - I made a list of all the fictional cities in DC's USA, and tried to squeeze them all in. In the end, because of geographical limitations, I had to leave out Santa Marta, Dos Rios, St. Roch and, ironically, New Venice.

Fantastic job, Ben! It's always a thrill when the cast and crew takes a script I wrote to places beyond my wildest hopes. The map was a genius addition. I'm very proud of how this episode turned out, and of all the great work everyone did, from Jelenic & Tucker to Bader/DiMaggio/Taylor/etc to the post gang.

ReplyDeleteMike - There's a Midwest City (home of Captain Comet) AND a MIdway City (home of Hawkman and Hawkgirl), and I thought I included both - there was one shot that got cut, and maybe Midway was in that one. I'm glad to see that I did remember Happy Harbor after all.
And for anyone trying that link up there, it got cut off for some reason - add DC_Universe to the end of it to make it work.

ReplyDeleteThis comment/question was brought up in a forum and I was hoping you would be able to answer it. In the World War I teaser with Batman and Enemy Ace teaming up, does Hitler make a brief cameo as one of the soldiers? Or was it just Charlie Chaplin?
ReplyDeleteThat was a coloring mistake, but he's meant to be a French soldier in World War I. Hitler would've been on the other side and Chaplin didn't serve, so let's assume it was a French soldier who was a fan of Charlie Chaplin.
